Spring Greetings Friends and Neighbors!

Spring has finally sprung and the neighborhood is in full bloom again! Kids are out playing, people are out taking walks and enjoying the sunshine. With that being said, there are some things to remember. Please drive SLOWLY through the neighborhood so someone chasing a ball into the street or riding their bike doesn’t get injured. Please be considerate when walking your dog and pick up after it. Please refrain from parking your vehicles across the sidewalk so as to block those who are using it. Remember to LOCK your vehicles and do not leave valuables in them! Warmer weather ultimately allows for more “crimes of opportunity” from those looking for just such an easy target.

Along those lines, you should note that the Board has been actively involved in obtaining Police protection for the community from the Village of Holly, which we currently do not have. At this time we are policed by the Michigan State Police, which is much less than a desirable situation for many reasons. There will be a concerned citizens meeting regarding this issue and the Special Assessment District that would need to be created to pay for these services on June 30th, 2009 at the Holly Academy. The garage sales are took place last weekend and hopefully everyone is getting rid of lots of stuff. For that stuff that does NOT sell, we will have Taddonio bring a large dumpster to the neighborhood on the weekend of June 13th & 14th. It will be parked on or near the empty lots on River Rock. The other alternative is to advertise it on Holly Freecycle. It is a lot like Craigslist, but everything advertised on it must be free. The idea is to Recycle things that still have a useful purpose and keep it out of the landfills. You would be amazed at some of the things that people are looking for! The Board has contracted with a landscape company to plant flowers at the entrances and our community should be much prettier in the next few weeks. We are also thrilled to report that our sub is 100% occupied and we have no homes currently for sale. That is a huge feat considering the current economy and a testament to the hard work and sweat we all put into our homes that makes other families want to live here.
